The Rolex Service Experience: Second to None

Rolex Building NYC

In the not-to-distant past, I was at the gym when I accidentally dropped my Rolex Submariner No-date 14060M. The clasp seemed a little off so I took it to customer service in the Rolex Building on 5th Avenue in New York City. After a brief explanation of the problem to an attentive representative, the watch was carefully placed on a velvet-laden tray and personally escorted away to a technician on a different floor. Meanwhile I relaxed in the "waiting room" with a magazine. Twenty minutes later the watch was back on my wrist, not only fixed but polished and cleaned. Plus, I was given a brand new Rolex-branded watch cloth. The price for this superlative service? Nothing—it was free.

Truthfully; I would say that should be a minimum service level expectation at this end of the market. In fairness, I went in to a Watches of Switzerland UK store recently just to browse. They saw that I was wearing a Patek watch which they took off me to polish whilst I wandered. There was no hard-sell, I was offered a glass of Champagne, my watch was returned ‘shining brand new’ & I was given a lovely Patek notebook in return solely for my visit! Excellent service.
