It's hard to separate Richard Mille's brilliant PR machine from its genuine horological innovation. Perhaps no Swiss watchmaker, saving perhaps Hublot and Swatch, is better at bringing these two together as underscored by this year's showy introduction at Baselworld.
The RM 39-01 aviation watch is fitted with a 1000-piece flyback RMAC2 automatic chronograph tourbillon calibre, and bi-directional rotating bezels that can be used to calculate fuel consumption, flight times, ground speed, wind influence, and even convert between metric and imperial measurement.
The watch is also notable for its oversized date at 12 o’clock, locking crown, and 62 jewel movement. To see the watch in action, watch the company promo video below.
