Baselworld 2013: Omega Blasts off with Speedmaster ‘Dark Side of the Moon’

Omega Speedmaster - Dark Side of Moon

Omega made a splash at Baselworld Sunday with the introduction of the sleek Speedmaster "Dark Side of the Moon" variant, so-called because it's comes equipped with a space-age black zirconium oxide ceramic dial and matching ceramic case.

The dial features 18K white gold applied indices as well as two blackened sub-dials. The in-house co-axial calibre 9300 powers the watch.

The matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale – among the most identifiable design features of the Speedmaster – stands out on the polished ceramic bezel.

This unusual timepiece comes together on a black Cordura fabric strap complete with a black ceramic buckle. The timepiece is water resistant to 50 meters or 165 feet.

Engraved on the back-side of the watch are the words "Dark Side of the Moon".
