Removing Scratches From a Watch Face

Minor scratches to watch faces are common, especially those that are used on a daily basis and don't have scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protector.

In general, the safest way to remove scratches is to have a professional jeweler do it; this is really the only way to do it if your watch face is protected by sapphire crystal.

If your watch has a plastic, acrylic,  or mineral crystal cover, it may be possible to remove the scratch by a gentle application of Polywatch or toothpaste and a soft polishing cloth. Just be careful and patient.

  1. That’s a really helpful suggestion. I’ve had covers replaced and professionally cleaned – great results but it’s really frustrating when you don’t have the watch for a few days whilst the work is being completed. I will definitely try a diy repair next time.
