Swiss Watchmakers Jump Into New Lines of Business

Some of the world's most prominent Swiss watchmakers are diversifying into other luxury product areas, such as fine pens, eyewear, and perfume. This comes after years of watching idly as prominent upscale brands such as Montblanc, Gucci, and Porsche launched successful Swiss watch lines. Bovet is the latest Swiss watch brand to fight back with the introduction of a branded perfume at Baselworld this week.

Other examples:

  • Omega offers a toilet water aimed at Seamaster Aqua Terra buyers
  • Ulysse Nardin recently launched a limited-edition fountain pen
  • Tag Heuer features "avant-garde" eyewear on its website
  • Girard-Perregaux has introduced branded cufflinks

  1. I can see why they diverse into fashion etc, but i wish they would’nt.
If you want Sunglasses, there is enough brands out there who only sunglasses and do them well!
So keep to what your good at and leave everythingelse to those who are also good at what they do!
