Swiss Watch Exports Soar

The Swiss watch industry is celebrating 30 percent year-over-year growth in exports in November led by demand from Asian markets, especially Hong Kong, Singapore, and China. Sales of $3,000+ (US) watches are leading the increase, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH). Looking ahead, analysts remain cautious because the strong Swiss franc--which has risen to record levels against the euro and the dollar--is likely to hurt exports next year. Despite these concerns, the FH predicts a record year for Swiss watch sales in 2011.
